Rains spare BCW.  the recent heavy rains that closed roads and bridges near Wilkes Barre and in the center of the state brought no severe problems in BCW.  We are not aware of any property damage.  Actually, the heavy rain was steady but gradual and our swales were never overloaded.

PPL to inspect power poles:  The following is a message received from Duane Sadvary with PPL:

Dear Customers;

The purpose of this letter is to inform PPL Electric Utilities customers that we are using Osmose, Inc. employees to inspect our wood Poles.  Some of the inspectors have vehicles with an Osmose insignia on them. Other inspectors use their own vehicles.  If you have any questions about this inspector, you can contact me at the Central Service Center at 570-821-5823.

 If I am not available, you may press zero for assistance and request that I be paged. I will return you call immediately.

BCW FISHING CLUB SEEKS NEW MEMBERS--SPECIAL OFFER

ALL ADDRESSES ARE CHANGING IN BCW

As you may have heard by now, all the addresses in BCW are changing.  There has been quite a bit of confusion about what will happen and when.  After discussions with the local post office and the township, here are the highlights and plans:

  1. Some of the street names in the development will change.  All streets will get new signs will go up later this summer.
  2. Every home in the development will have an address assigned to it.
  3. This address will be both the physical address and the mailing address if you receive mail at the mailboxes in BCW.  They will be one and the same…no more HC 1 addresses.
  4. The new mailing address will be effective immediately, meaning that mail can be delivered to the new address, but the post office is suggesting that you wait at least 30 days before changing your address with your credit card companies, utilities, etc. in order to let the dust settle.
  5. DO NOT put your new address on your mailbox in BCW.  The post office letter seems to indicate that this should be done, but the intent was not for “cluster” boxes such as ours.
  6. The letter from Monroe County suggests you wait 60 days before installing new house numbers…again to be sure everything is correct.
    1. BCW will purchase most or all of the new house number signs at a reduced price.
    2. BCW will have an installer put in the posts in front of all homes to be sure they are done correctly and uniformly.  If a homeowner decides to do this on his own, and it is not done per the new township ordinance, there are steep fines for non-conformance, so it is highly recommended that you wait for BCW to make the preparations and do the installation
    3. The Board will determine a method for billing homeowners.  The intent is to do it at one time and in a manner that will be cost effective for you.

 The bottom line is that nothing needs to be done on your part immediately.  We will keep you informed via email and the website as things progress.

Beginning April 1st the compactor will be closed from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Visit the Residents Area for full minutes of the most recent annual meeting.
